Aspire Health is the nation’s largest community-based palliative care provider, currently operating in 23 states and 56 cities.  Aspire specializes in providing an extra layer of support to patients facing a serious illness through an ambitious palliative care program focused on caring for patients in their homes and outpatient clinics.  Aspire’s clinicians are experts in providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness; helping patients and caregivers navigate the healthcare system; guiding patients and caregivers through difficult and complex treatment choices; and providing emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families.


The Vice President Learning and Development will be responsible for the planning, designing, building, implementation, and delivery of all training and development programs to support our field operations, central operation and corporate teams.  Responsible for the entire life cycle of training and development from needs assessment and design to development of e-learning capabilities and delivery.  Assess current needs and training programs across the organization and make recommendations for enhancement, new programs and delivery methods to support all team members and develop plans and programs to support Aspire’s outcomes.   


  • Design, develop, implement and manage a comprehensive onboarding and professional development program across all clinical, non-clinical and corporate roles:Develop an overall Learning and Development strategy geared towards developing Aspire team members to support our outcomes
  • Provide on-going review and enhancement opportunities with current on-boarding and professional development programs
  • Identify and develop new on-boarding, professional development, and knowledge management programs across the enterprise
  • Develop a curriculum that is:
    • Comprehensive – technical skill as well as leadership, management and personal/interpersonal skills
    • Multi-Channel – experiential, classroom and online/on demand
    • Timely – in response to or in anticipation of most critical organizational needs and priorities, and in a culture where speed trumps perfection
    • Relevant – across all target audiences (clinical, non-clinical, corporate) and compatible with Aspire’s culture
  • Deliver Learning and Development programming, enrollment/tracking and reporting in a way that is user-friendly, efficient and effective
  • Develop and drive relevant metrics that produce useful insights to guide our talent strategies and priorities
  • Lead, manage, coach and develop all L&D team members
  • Identify and build all key infrastructure need to deliver training needs thru multiple channels including e-learning to support all Aspire Team MembersEnsures that the enterprise is equipped with the appropriate Learning Delivery system capable of supporting the business’ Learning, Development, Compliance, and other needs.
  • Implement various learning methods companywide (e.g. coaching, job-shadowing, online training)
  • Ensure LMS supports the needs of the organization, address gaps and implement solutions
  • Ensure knowledge base support the needs of the organization, address gaps and implement solutions

  • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices
  • Knowledge of instructional design models like ADDIE or SAM and storyboarding experience.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead a cross function team to achieve project goals and deadlines in support of onboarding and professional development requirements.

  • Requires significant health care, educational and program design experience with a focus on end of life or palliative care
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience leading a training team in a fast paced, high growth organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (Master's degree preferred) in organizational development, human resources, or other training/business related coursework
  • Clinical background (RN, NP, PA, pharmacist) preferred.
  • Knowledge of current and planned technology capabilities in business, as well as awareness of a variety of training delivery modes (Instructor-Led, Computer-Based, blended, webinar)
  • Experience leveraging relevant training/development approaches (e.g., learning from experience, learning from others, learning from education)
  • Experience in Instructional Design and Development with a strong understanding of adult learning principles, methods, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Experience in identifying training needs and applying adult learning theory and education principles to the practice of instructional design and strategy.
  • Experience managing and deploying a Learning Management System.
  • Proven expertise in conducting learning and development needs assessments, solution design, development, implementation, and impact evaluation.
  • Has worked for a multi-state and multi-site company, or division experiencing double digit year-over-year growth for three straight years. Has had training responsibility for a geographically distributed employee population of at least 250 full-time employees.
  • Leadership Development - pragmatic knowledge of leadership competency frameworks and a variety of proven practices, tools and techniques that help leaders develop in their jobs, with unique experiences and well-designed programs
  • Change Management - ability to create a mindset shift and adoption across a variety of stakeholders, using proven change management practices
  • Coaching - Provide timely coaching and feedback to help participant and groups strengthen a specific knowledge or skill are
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Excel, MS-Access, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Word) (required).
